Fête du Bordeaux

Fête du Bordeaux

Chicago is the city full of great events, interesting meetings and wonderful people. About a week ago I attended The Chicago Wine Company’s Annual Fête du Bordeaux at Park Hyatt Chicago, hosted by Simon Lambert from The Chicago Wine Company (www.tcwc.com). He welcomed three wine-makers from Bordeaux, France:

– Lilian Barton-Sartorius of Ch. Léoville Barton and Ch. Langoa Barton

– Jean-Charles Cazes of Ch. Lynch Bages and Ch. Les Ormes de Pez

– Fréderic Faye from Ch. Figeac and Petit Figgie

Each of them introduced their treasures: precious red wines, including their current vintage of 2013, older vintage selections, one selection of white (2014 Blanc de Lynch Bages) and, for those who like dessert wines, the 2007 Ch. Suduiraut, with a unique beautiful color served with a dessert (of course).

The evening commenced with a Champagne reception followed by a five course dinner especially created to compliment the wines.

The nice thing also is when the organizers and chefs are able to fit any menu changes to your preferences. It’s very important to me as I am very particular about my meals. I have a very long list of food that I don’t eat, like no meats. So I was very appreciative of them for making the dinner unforgettable for me.

While a big fan of dry white wine, I still had several of my favorite reds. Wine tasting is a perfect way to explore and find a new Goddess Drink that you can add to your list of favorites. And I am always interested in discovering new loves!

By tasting all of the selections, I have made my own three winners. Here they are:

– 2013 Ch. Lynch Bages

– 2005 Ch. Figeac

– 1995 Ch. Léoville Barton

At the end of the event, I had a pleasure to meet and talk to all three of the wine-makers. They were like their wines: cheerful, delightful and amazingly great!

And a big Thanks to organizer of this event to Simon Lambert. Can’t wait for the next one!
